A Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet (and Freemason) Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796), the author of many Scots poems. The suppers are normally held on or near the poet's birthday, 25 January. With good food, good cheer and good poetry; there’s no experience quite like a Burns Night celebration.
The tradition started a few years after the poet’s death in 1796, when his friends commemorated his career on the date of his death (July 21) each year. So began the Burns Supper, and more than two centuries later it has become a remarkable event, with recitals of the poet's works and a haggis dinner.
As part of the traditional Burns Night supper on the evening there are haggis, ‘neeps and tatties’ and whisky and wine besides. The format of the celebration have all of the essential details required for a wonderful Burn’s Night celebration.
The evening is part of the social activities of Ibiza Concordia Lodge No.44 which has already begun to have an impact in terms potential membership. In addition, it is an opportunity to raise hundreds of euros for the yearly Charity cause of our Lodge.
